Information on Boating Accident Sought

NEBO, N.C. (May 29, 2007) – N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission officers are asking for the boating public’s help in investigating a Memorial Day weekend boating accident on Lake James between Mimosa Boat Landing and Linville Access Area.

On Sunday, May 27 between 2-2:30 p.m. a 12-year-old boy fell from a tube being towed by a motorboat on Lake James and was subsequently struck by a passing boat. The passing boat stopped to check on the youth, but then left the scene. The youth was taken from the water and transported to a local hospital, then transferred to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he is being treated.
