RALEIGH, N.C. (July 20) The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has printed update sheets to complement its Trout Fishing Maps book. The updates, which went into effect July 1, affect more than 70 public waters in 24 western counties.
The North Carolina Trout Fishing Maps book contains maps of all trout waters open to public fishing. Maps are color-coded according to the signs posted on the streams and give anglers a guide to fishing regulations in effect on specific streams. The book also shows the locations of game lands and state parks and provides information on universal access facilities for anglers with disabilities. The map book costs $12 and can be purchased at the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education and the Wildlife Commission’s Direct Sales Unit. To order by phone, call 1-866-WILDSHOP (1-866-945-3746) or (919) 662-4377. For a complete description of waters open to public fishing and the fishing regulations in effect, anglers can obtain a free copy of the 2004–2005 North Carolina Inland Fishing, Hunting and Trapping Regulations Digest. The digest is available from more than 1100 wildlife service agents located across the state, or it can be downloaded from the Regulations section here. For more information on freshwater fishing in North Carolina, visit the Fishing section or call the Commission’s Division of Inland Fisheries, (919) 733-3633. The trout maps can be viewed and printed from the Fishing Maps page. |
