WILD
Worshop Descriptions
Project
WILD workshops are based on an international program that emphasizes wildlife
education. They include the following:
Basic Project WILD Workshops

Basic workshops are open to all interested educators including classroom
teachers, environmental educators, resource agency staff, park and nature
personnel, teaching fellows, college students and faculty, and youth leaders.
There are no prerequisites for these free workshops.

The10-hour basic workshop introduces participants to the Project WILD
K-12 educator guide along with materials specifically
for
North Carolina
. The educator guide contains more than 150 hands-on activities that focus
on wildlife and natural resources. Each activity guide describes learner
objectives and methods, provides background information and identifies materials
needed. Each guide also outlines procedures, lists extensions and includes
an evaluation.
The
interdisciplinary activities use wildlife as tools for teaching math, science,
English, art, physical education, history and other subjects. For teachers
in the
North Carolina
public
school system, each activity is correlated to the state's competency-based
curriculum.
Boy
and Girl Scout leaders can participate in Project WILD training and activities
at all age levels. By using the materials and methods provided, leaders
can help scouts earn badges and complete the requirements needed for advancement
projects.

Teachers receive one CEU credit for attending a 10-hour workshop. Scout
leaders can earn adult training certification.
