How often are positions posted?
Vacancies
are posted as they occur. We suggest that you check the Office
of State Personnel Web site on a regular basis. Vacancies on the site will
be posted for at least five business days and often for a longer period.
Do
I need to submit a new application if I have already applied for a position
with the Wildlife Resources Commission or do you keep them on file?
You will need to submit a new application if you find another position you are
interested in applying for. The new application must be received in our office
by 5 p.m. on the closing date.
How
do I know whether I qualify for a position?
Each vacancy announcement will list the minimum education and experience requirements for the position. You must meet or exceed those requirements in order to be considered for a position. Only the most highly qualified applicants are selected for interviews.
Will
I be contacted after I apply?
A postcard will be mailed to applicants acknowledging receipt of application. Interviewed applicants will be notified once a hiring decision has been made.
How
can I apply to be a Wildlife Enforcement Officer?
When we are recruiting for Wildlife
Enforcement officers, a vacancy announcement will be listed on the Office of
State Personnel Web site. We can only accept applications during the period
the openings are posted.
How do I become a Wildlife Enforcement Officer?
Do
I have to have special law enforcement training or certification prior to applying
for a Wildlife Enforcement Officer position?
The minimum requirements for the position
are listed in our Job Classification section. Applicants must be at least 20
years of age. You are not required to have any law enforcement certification
prior to applying. Successful applicants will complete a 19-week wildlife enforcement
officers basic training school at the North Carolina Justice Academy in Salemburg,
NC.
How
are starting salaries determined?
The salary grade and associated salary
range are listed on each vacancy announcement. When determining a starting salary,
we take into consideration factors including your experience above the minimum
requirements, equity among employees, and budgetary considerations. Additional

of State Personnel Web
site.
What

What
does it mean when a position is listed as being Time-Limited?
Some positions are only established
for a set period of time ranging from 1 - 3 years. The time period may be determined
by the expected length of the assignment to be accomplished or due to limited
funding.
